Poetry Scores house band Three Fried Men plays Saturday with Dugout Canoe & Thin Dimes

Poetry Scores' house band Three Fried Men has a free performance this Saturday, May 4 at the Schlafly Tap Room, 2100 Locust.

Three Fried Men opens the show at 9 p.m. sharp, followed by Geoff Seitz & the Dugout Canoe at 10 p.m. and The Thin Dimes at 11 p.m.

The event is free. Schlafly has a full-service bar with more than a dozen of their own beer styles on tap and bottled. It's also a restaurant with a tasty, adventurous pub menu.

Geoff Seitz & the Dugout Canoe  is one of the finest old-time music bands on the planet. Dancing permitted. The Thin Dimes play high-energy foot-stomping music. Foot stomping permitted.

This version of Three Fried men has four song leaders: Chris King, Ann Hirschfeld, Robert Goetz and Nick Barbieri.

They will lead songs that set to music poetry by Anne Sexton, Wayne Kaumualii Westlake, Confucius (translated from the Chinese by Ezra Pound), Ece Ayhan and Orhan Veli (translated from the Turkish by Murat Nemet-Nejat), as well as Lakota totem chants and African proverbs.

These poetry scores are presented in chamber folk rock settings: a spare drum kit, bass, Adam Long on cello, acoustic and electric guitars (Mark Buckheit, lead), and Heidi Dean on operatic harmony vocals.

For more information, email Chris King at brodog@hotmail.com.
